How the Fans' Top 25 works

The Fans' Top 25 is a college football ranking with no voting panel and no committee. Every visitor is asked the same question, as many times as they like: of these two teams, which is better? Each answer moves both teams. Ten picks open the ranking, and anyone can keep going after that, up to 50 picks every two hours.

It runs on Elo ratings, the system chess uses. The team you pick takes points from the team you passed over, and it takes more of them when the other team was rated higher. So a team climbs fastest by winning the matchups it was expected to lose, and every FBS team is in it.

Each team started from its results on the field this season. Every move since then is a fan's pick. Nobody chooses their own matchups, and each one can be answered once, so no fan base can vote its team to the top by asking the same question over and over.

It is run by Pick 6, college fantasy football where you draft teams, not players. Here is how to play, and every upset of the season is the other list we keep.

Pick 6 is college fantasy football without a roster of players to manage. You and your friends draft six teams, one per conference, and score every week they win.
